At an Animal Park in Bolton there were a small gathering of white peacocks, all just having a little relax on the fence. I thought they had interesting facial details so I tried to get in to take some shots.
This was just after I woke one of them up.
I was ill a little while back and the doctor wanted a urine sample, a fresh morning one so I had to take a tube and bag home with me.
As I was "filling up" the next morning I thought it quite funny and a little disturbing to see the words "BIO HAZARD" and "EASY OPEN" next to each other…..
After getting bored of balancing I imagine, the duck felt a little clean was in order.
I thought it was quite a nice sight so I took a shot.
It’s not one legged for a start, so don’t feel sorry for it. It was just practicing it’s balancing I think.
Quite a difficult spot actually, it really blended in with the ground beneath it and the little plant to the side didn’t help so some selective desaturation I think helped bring the bird into focus a little better.

Normally the little thing would stop moving as it came and grabbed some seeds before flying away, so when it paused for a split second I was firing the shutter away. This was the best I managed to get. If you’ve shot Blue Tits before perhaps you will understand how fidgety they are!!
IT’S BEEN A LONG TIME.

I’ve had a rough time through Winter, I was ill a lot and was swamped with work and alsorts but finally I have a week free and I decided to spend it bringing you dontdopea-ians up to speed.
So let’s get straight back to it:
Taken with my Sigma 180mm Macro. Set up on a tripod and remote released the shutter from indoors.
All the small birds that visit the back garden are easily spooked!
Blue tits proved to be the twitchiest birds that visit the feeders. Barely stopping for a second, as this photo demonstrates…
Some minor noise reduction, it was overcast so some sharpening was required.
Side Note: While I was sat on the step by the back door waiting for some birds to come visit, above me, along the edge of the roof were a battalion of pigeons. I think you can guess how this story ends….
Caught a few swams grooming themselves while floating around.
Tried to compose the shot so the arc of the birds neck just filled the frame.
Quite happy with it, it’s one of few “pretty bird” photos I seem to have been sharing with you lately. Just looking back at the last couple of days, it does appear as though I’ve gotten a bit of a bird fetish recently doesn’t it? I shall have to make sure this doesn’t continue in the upcoming week.
I felt that in comparison to the ugly chicken, Pretty Chicken was really pretty, just a shame about the cage around his face.
This is the ugliest chicken I’ve ever seen. Ever.
Even the PP I did to warm up the image didn’t help the poor ugly bugger.
Not sure of the name of this bird. It was sharing a cage with the peach faced Lovebirds but I’m not sure if they are a type of lovebirds themselves…
