Spots was lay on the floor sleeping, which isn’t exactly groundbreaking news I know but I liked the ways his little feet were placed on the ground and it just so happened that I had my camera to hand so I snapped.
Converted to monochrome to add a little warmth and sharpened a bit because the field was quite narrow.
pen detail
These technical drawing pens really do have some lovely texture and colour on them.
They look like a prop from some old Hollywood film. About archaeology. Possibly starring Harrison Ford…
I’m sure this wheel is used for something. Without flexing my brain muscle too much I’d say it was for tightening something but I can’t say for certain. Like a lot of the subject matter in my photography… I don’t know a whole lot about it but they sure are nice things to look at.
Swiss made don’t you know?
I’ve taken a few shots of this watch before but it is such an interesting one that I couldn’t help but take a few more.
I have been playing around with the depth of field and the focus, trying to pick out other wheels and cogs that weren’t visible from other angles in other shots.
Now, I’m not a watchologist but I’m sure there doesn’t been to be that many wheels and cogs inside a single watch to make three hands turn at different speeds, does there?
grass
My girlfriend’s stepdad bought some seeds because he is trying to grow some of his own herbs and whatnots.
One tray of seeds sprouted particularly quickly and I liked the little strands of silky web some spiders passing by had left so I got my macro out on it and tried to make it look like a jungle…
sorta.

Rust
First off, I will apologise for the delay from my last post.
Me and Meg have been busy with the room and yesterday my server was down, as far as I could tell, so I couldn’t get on to DDP.
Weekend traffic is normally quite low so instead of back tracking I’ll just continue on.
The depth of field on my Sigma is really narrow. This image was shot at ƒ/16 and even though the pens were only a centimetre away from each other, if that, they still blurred out quite nicely.
These are the same pens as the ones in a photo from a previous day.
The original photo shows them in the lovely purple lined box they are stored in. In this shot I wanted to get more of the texture in it so I lined them up on the windowsill to make the most of the remaining natural light and fired away.
As I said, we’ve been quite busy with the room but hopefully soon it will be done and I’ll stick up some photos in the Plog pages, if anybody cares to have a look. ![]()

silver strings
A close up of the strings on the Gibson Les Paul guitar.
I Channel Mixed it to black and white because a large portion of the shot was of metal and the small bit of colour as distracting and added nothing to the shot.
Also, a little tip with black and white photography, is that you can make the contrast more extreme without losing any “realism”.
I’ve noticed when playing with floral shots, if I convert them to black and white, upping the contrast adds more “oomph” to the shot.
