me and meg went for a walk through this place called black leach park.
it was quite a quiet place.
a large lake surrounded by footpaths.
we took a lunch break and sat down to eat a packet of crisps. as we set off i spotted a lone dandelion by the side of the path and asked meg if she would pose for a photo for me.
i had my 50mm 1.8 attached and had to manually focus with my d40x.
it was a little tricky and took quite a lot of photos and in the end, this was the best shot.
it was quite overcast so my aperture was smaller than i wanted, this meant the dandelion seeds that had been blown off weren’t in focus. i didn’t want to up the ISO anymore. i’m still happy with the results though.

DOUBLE EDIT: Thanks to everyone who has viewed, favourited and commented some more, this is now my most interesting photo

So I came into possession of a Star-6 Hoya filter and had a good old play with it on my 50mm 1.8D.
While I was in my girlfriend’s car I thought it’d be interesting to see what I could capture, so after a couple of unsuccesful moving shots of streetlights going passed I got bored and just started to fiddle around with the focus until I got shots like this.
It’s completely out of focus but the filter gives it a little something, I don’t know what. There’s something sort of peaceful about them…
I ended up taking about 30-40 of these ‘brokeh’ [sic] shots.
This and a few others were the best of the bunch. I might upload them later.
Maybe I shouldn’t have titled this image and seen if anybody could guess what it was

I can’t remember where I got the idea to get some close ups of instruments but this is (fairly obviously) a close up of some guitar strings.
For those of you know may be inclined to want to know more, it’s one of these: Les Paul
I was playing around with various focal points at various different places on the guitar. Also, I was only using the late afternoon light, which was coming in through the window so I needed to tweak the colours a little in post.
Overall I’m pretty happy with this shot. I quite like how the out of focus area of the strings actually look as though they are vibrating/being played and also the difference in thickness but that might just be me.
