    About

    Hey, welcome to dontdopeas!

That was just my little welcome note to all of you who have stumbled across dontdopeas.
dontdopeas is my photoblog site. It's nothing amazing and it won't redefine what a photoblog site should be, but I do try and give it a little personality :)

If you wanna know more about me, then click on the proper About Me tab that should be lingering just up there on the toolbar
If you wanna see my photos, then you'll find they are on the dontdopeas homepage
If you wanna send me a little hello or ask something then by all means click on my contact page
If you just wanna keep clicking to make this neat little toolbar pop up and down then go nuts!

In Birtle there is this barn in the middle of a field.
The first time I ever came here the friend I was with told me a story that I have never been quite sure about.
Apparently it’s a hanging barn. Or was.
A long time ago, it’s sole purpose was for the hanging of criminals.
It’s long since been forgotten about as you may be about to make out from the hole in the roof.

The barn is on private property so I’d never been closer to it than this shot.
Until recently, when Meg and me hopped over the fence and made our way over to it.
When we got to the barn it was obvious it had been abandoned. Half of two seperate walls had collapsed leaving the entire barn exposed to the elements.
I took a look inside and found…….

nb: my first sepia shot so I’m not sure what people think of the processing. It wasn’t a silhouette either, there was some adjustments with Levels and the Burn tool.
I was influenced by a strictly sepia based landscapes group on Flickr.

The Bridgewater Hall is one of my favourite buildings in Manchester. Going through my photostream I think it’s one of the buildings that I have photographed the most in which the results I have been most happy with.
I don’t know why. It’s modern and sleek and cool but it doesn’t shout it, but it’s used for certain venues that can’t be considered modern (i mean the Halle Orchestra and Manchester Boys Choir, not the Eels concert that I didn’t go to…yeah I’m bringing that up again, so what?)

Anyway, this was taken at night (obviously) but I think there was enough light to make the exposure just right. hey that rhymes!
